The area most affected is the city of Bam where preliminary reports indicated that over 2,000 people were confirmed dead and over 40,000 families affected. An estimated 60% of the houses and buildings are badly damaged or destroyed. The search and rescue phase of the operation is now underway; however, access to the affected area is limited and casualty and injured figures could increase dramatically as rescue efforts continue and further assessments of the situation emerge. <br />Iranian government has estimated 20,000 people dead, and indicated that this number could rise up to 40,000. Power outage and lack of shelter, have left survivors in the cold. They need medical supply, food, blankets, tent, and shelter. <br /> <br />International organizations such as Red Cross and World vision have already set up relief accounts for those who would like to help.
